Ken ‘Professor Polvo’ Clarke has been training, teaching and performing with Axé Capoeira for over 20 years. He is currently leading 2 western Canadian chapters in Vancouver and New Westminster with a steadily growing student base. He is currently an Axé Capoeira Performance Team Leader and a In-School Programs Leader with over 1000 shows and 100 school programs successfully completed. Polvo travels annually and has competed in numerous Capoeira events in Vancouver, Victoria, Sao Paulo (BR), Recife (BR), Fortaleza (BR), Salvadore (BR), Seattle, Calgary, Toronto, Kansas City, and Santa Cruz. In 2007, Polvo Placed 1st in the advanced category during the Axé Capoeira Kansas City Capoeira Competition.

Instrutora Mumia (Julie Ali) found her calling in Capoeira. Her nickname Mumia came from being shockingly stiff as a beginner. Stiff no longer and almost 20 years later, she is now leading classes at Kerrisdale CC and manages multiple locations. She has travelled to Brazil 5x to train, study, compete and immerse herself in capoeira culture. Instrutora Mumia is the Director of the Afro-Brazilian Cultural Society. She hopes to lead, inspire and elevate capoeira with the next generation of capoeiristas.

She is also an Axé Capoeira Performance Team performer with over 1000 shows completed all over the province of BC. Instrutora Tupi travels annually and has participated and competed in numerous Capoeira events around the world. She currently has two 1st place champion titles on her record and hopes to continue to keep her title and represent Capoeira internationally.

Antoinette "Nativa" McGill has trained capoeira for over 15 years. She trained under Mestre Barrao, and his son Mestre Barraozhino. She has performed capoeira and Afro-Brazilian dances in schools and communities. Nativa is an elementary school teacher for the Delta School District as well and has over 20 years of experience teaching kids in elementary school.
